At GOTS we focus on the IGCSE Syllabus
What is IGCSE?
The International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) is an English language curriculum offered to students to prepare them for International Baccalaureate, A Level and BTEC Level 3 (which is recommended for higher-tier students). It is based on the GCE O-Level and is recognised as being equivalent to the GCSE. The IGCSE was developed by University of Cambridge International Examinations. The examination board Edexcel offers its own version, the Edexcel International GCSE. Students begin learning the syllabus at the beginning of year 10 and take the test at the end of year 11.
The IGCSE is an international alternative to many popular national curricula. However, unlike many school-leaving qualifications in many countries, the IGCSE is not a group award or “certificate of education”. It is a qualification based on individual subjects of study, which means that one receives an “IGCSE” qualification for each subject one takes. For this reason, schools worldwide have different expectations about how many IGCSEs students should take. Typical “core” curricula for IGCSE candidates include a First Language, Second Language, Mathematics and one or more subjects in the Sciences. IGCSE candidates then choose a number of additional courses ranging from Social Sciences to Creative Arts.

GOTS International Primary Programme offers: Year 1 – 6
Within the Cambridge Primary stage, the GOTS International Primary Programme for 6-11 year olds sets clear learning objectives in English, Mathematics and Science skills for each year of primary education. It focuses on learners’ development in each year and provides a natural progression throughout the years of primary education, providing international benchmarks for schools. It is also excellent preparation for the next stage of the Cambridge International Education. It also enables teachers to assess children’s learning as they progress with two optional assessments: Cambridge Primary Progression Tests and Cambridge Primary Checkpoint 1 External Examinations.
Foundation for secondary education
GOTS Primary, aids identification of a student’s strengths and weaknesses and can be used to support learning and development. It provides learners with excellent preparation so they can progress seamlessly into Cambridge Secondary and beyond.
As an international programme, GOTS Syllabus provides teachers with an external benchmark with regards to teaching methods and easily measure learners’ progress over time. It also enables detailed and structured reporting to parents.
Appropriate and relevant internationally, GOTS Syllabus has been designed to be culturally sensitive. It includes top-quality teaching and assessment resources appropriate for teaching and learning in local and international schools.
